MAN! It's been a while.posted Aug 30th 2007, 9:53PM
And is going to continue to be, I'm afraid. School just started, and to a senior with early college classes, the usual stressors of this event have obviously multiplied...
Sorry if I'm not making any sense. What I'm saying is, I'll try to check updates and submit the pics I've withheld when I can. The only problem is...that won't be for a couple of days now.
(The good news is that I'm feeling more inspired now that I've got some direction (even if it comes from school)...so if (ah,when) something comes from me, it'll be at least moderately substantial.
Hello there! =D
Long time no see!
If you can't alreayd tell, this is Sunken Woglinde on her new account.
I decided to close up the 'old shed' and get a new start.
And, as you can see, I hve Odin Sphere now! I'm currently playing the Cornelius storyline, so don't give me any spoilers, but I am SO COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Odin Sphere now.
As my new page will tell you, no doubt.
Wow. Looks like I got here just in time. Phew! Hoof! New account, eh? Cool; you even christened it like a second ship...
...Man, I bet so much has occured since I've been gone. ...Where do I start? This one comment alone may get long-winded, so be careful.
I followed your struggle with the accounts in your journals, though. To me, it's funny. Downright hilarious, in fact. ...yYu remember, I went through a similar episode: first it was "M Mage"! then it was "Tetra"! And now Zyvan. Oh well. It is good to clean out old stuff every once in a while, else the page gets cluttered! Of course, I tend to pile old stuff up until it overflows, so neh...
But, anyway! Woglinde II! How are you? Gotta take a look at all this crazy newness in a sec. One thing I can say is this: I am very pleased you got Odin Sphere. Wasn't sure you would, but looks like you managed to find it. It's been a while since I beat it, but rest assured--under no circumstances will you hear any spoilers from me. Not a peep. With that in mind, enjoy what is an all around excellent and beautiful game. Meanwhile, I'll take a look at the new page!
Yes indeed! Lots of new stuff going on. I'm glad that you like the new account christening, heehee.
I appreciate how you've followed my account struggles, and you've always been there to offer helpful and inspiring comments on my artwork; even if you did disappear from time to time. You never forgot about me, and that makes me very happy.
I was getting a pretty big clutter-pile-up, so, after attempting to clean out my account, I just decided a fresh start would be what I'd need to get me interested in art again.
I'm doing just great! I'm expermenting with colored pencil blenders, so my coloring is going to get a lot more smooth and pretty like. You should look into them, if you haven't already; they work wonders.
Thanks for promising not to give me any spoilers for Odin Sphere. I am completely obsessed with it. I think it is an absolute perfect game in every way; and I didn't even say that about Valkyrie Profile!
Thanks, I hope you like my new page.
How have you been??
Blenders? That sounds intriguing; I do gotta look into that. I'm due for some new coloring implements...
Uh, me? ...Well, not too bad; balancing my creative yearnings with the tedium of school, you know. Once again, I've switched to a new 'series'--it never seems like I can stick with just one for very long... XP Right now, I'm focusing more on writing, since time to draw is increasingly scarce...Doesn't mean it's absent, just scarce... Still, what I have, I'll put up A.S.A.P. And...it's been a mighty long time since I really played a game. The last one was Terranigma; I might mention it later on.
Anyway, I figured you might like Odin Sphere. It's like Atlus' triumph. ...Speaking of which, have you played any of their other games?
They're great! I'd never really thought about using them until Mom got me some, and a book about them, and they work like a charm. Great for smoothing out rough coloring.
There are two kinds of blenders she got me; Prismacolor "Colorless Blender Pencils"; they're wood colored, with a clear wax 'lead'. They work great, but seem to smear ink. (But that's because they're made to blend/smear things, but you just have to be reaaaally careful with 'em.)
The other kind, which I like better, are "Blending Tortillons". They're rolled paper, pointed at one end, used to blend. They come in different sizes; mom got me a pack with small, medium and large sizes. I love these, because they don't seem to smear ink; but the downside to them is that you can only use 1 tortillon per color, because the colored pencil stains the tortillon. You can continue to use that stained tortillon for the same color, or a similar color, but if you use it on something drastically different(say, green stain on red pencil) you'll end up with color blending and smudging that looks bad. They're really good, though; what I did on some areas of the picture I colored with them was I sort of crosshatched, then colored it in, and it blended colors smoothly. It also works GREAT for lighter colors, because you can use blenders to give an even layer of color without it being really dark.
Anyway! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well; and that'll be great to see some more of your writing! I myself an going to be doing a lot of writing, soon.
I haven't ever heard of Terranigma; what's it about?
I'm not sure if I have played any other Atlus games. I'd imagine I have had to at some point-- I think Shadow of Destiny might have beeb by Atlus, but I can't remember. Any others you'd reccomend?
Hmm, that's very interesting. I hadn't heard of these tools before. Thanks for the explanation! Now I just need to find them...
That's good; I'm looking forward to your writing, too! As for Terranigma...well, it's an old, somewhat obscure game for the SNES. I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it, but it is a classic RPG. In the game, Earth, our world, has long been desolated and destroyed. Or at least on the surface. Evidently, there's a small settlement beneath the earth...a tranquil village with flowing crystal images of other worlds (bizarre, but cool imagery). Ark, the main character, eventually leaves his home with the task of resurrecting the Earth. You start with the continents. Once they're restored, you travel to the surface to revive the plants, the birds, animals, and beyond... It's also great because it's an action-RPG. Several games from this time tossed random encounters at you and expected you to wait. Terranigma encouraged you to roam around, jump, and think on your feet. Plus, you can't beat traveling over a world map that resembles our own--and not being ambushed by random foes. At all. Its music is excellent, too, but that's a side note. ...Anyway, my save file erased before I could quite beat it, but it was worth playing. Sometime, I plan on playing it again...
But that's for later. Now, Atlus. Ever heard of Disgaea? It's a weird, twisted little strategy game...but visually, it shares a few similarities with Odin Sphere. Which isn't a surprise, really. Nothing other than Shadow of Destiny, though? ...Well, as far as recommendations go, Dual Hearts (also by them) is a pretty solid platformer. In truth, though, I haven't really played much else than that either.
I hope you can find them; they're great! Try Hobby Lobby or something.
Thank you, though! That makes me really happy to hear that you look forward to my writing...it's very motivating to know that someone will actually read the stuff I make, haha!
That game sounds completely fantastic, by the way! If I had an SNES, I'd definately look into playing it. I love old RPGs like that; especially the ones that aren't turn based. I get bored quickly with turn based RPGs, it seems.
I've heard of Disgaea, too! I need to play it, or watch the anime version. Or both. If it shares visual similarities with Odin Sphere, I'll have to play it sooner than I'd planned.
I am SO obsessed with Odin Sphere. That game is perfect in every way, in my opinion, and I've never thought that about a game before. (Even Valkyrie Profile had it's glitches.)
I will also look up Dual Hearts! It sounds familiar...what is it rated? I'm typically only allowed to play games that are rated E thru T.
You too, eh? Yeah, for some reason, I could stomach turn-based RPGs as a kid, but now I just don't have much patience for games of that type.
Worry not; Dual Hearts is E for Everyone. And quite neat. Disgaea, however...well, it's T, but I played through much of it a while back. If you plan on getting it...be prepared for some swearing and 'crude humor'. It's not nearly as serious as Odin Sphere. In fact, this caught me off guard when I first played the latter game--I thought, 'Wait a minute, this is made by Atlus, creators of Disgaea! There's no incessantly weird humor here anywhere?' Of course, I should have known better--and really, I was delighted to make the trade-off.
Wow I forgot to comment you. ROFL. Cool gallery, kid. Oh uh sorry if that offends you, calling you kid. I always call people that even if they're 20. Ha.
